Colin G. Kruse, an Australian, has a new commentary on Romans. It replaces Leon Morris’s commentary in the Pillar New Testament Commentaries. If you have a Kindle, you might check it out. I got the electronic book for less than 10 percent of what you would expect to pay for a hard-cover commentary.
So I will stay on Paul for a few more days. I will not go through the whole commentary. What interests me is a section of the introduction called The Influence of the “New Perspective”. This is an up-to-date response by a traditional evangelical to the New Perspective, which says that Paul did not set the grace of Jesus and salvation by faith over against Judaism.
I will deal with Kruse this week and then take a couple of weeks off from blogging. My dad died about 10 months ago, and I feel the need to go spend some time with my mother who is in her 90s. Besides, one of the deals about being retired is that I can just take off and travel a couple of times a year.
